Supporting Children and Teens with Care, Connection, and Understanding
A Safe Place for Young People to Be Heard
Youth therapy is a safe and supportive space where children and teens can express their emotions, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills. I work with young people—ages 5 through adolescence—who may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, big emotions, school stress, or family changes. I also support neurodivergent children and youth, including those with ADHD, autism, or sensory processing differences, using approaches tailored to their unique needs and strengths.
Sessions are offered in person at my private office in Port Perry and virtually across Ontario, with daytime, evening, and weekend availability to accommodate busy family schedules. Therapy helps young people feel heard, gain emotional awareness, and learn practical tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
What to Expect in Youth Therapy
Every child and teen is unique, which is why I tailor each session to their developmental stage, communication style, and emotional needs. With over 25 years of experience working with young people—and a background in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, and psychotherapy—I bring a deep understanding of how to support kids and teens in a way that feels safe, engaging, and respectful.
Common Areas of Focus
Youth therapy can support children and teens navigating challenges such as:
Anxiety, worry, panic, or social anxiety
Depression or persistent low mood
School stress, academic pressure, or performance anxiety
Self-esteem issues, perfectionism, or negative self-talk
Family changes including divorce, blended families, relocation, or loss
Trauma, emotional overwhelm, or difficulty with emotion regulation
Friendship struggles, peer conflict, or isolation
Neurodivergence, including ADHD, autism, or sensory processing differences

Age-Appropriate Support
For younger children, therapy often includes play-based methods, such as drawing, storytelling, or imaginative play to help them express emotions and build self-regulation.
For teens, sessions focus more on collaborative talk therapy, with space to explore identity, relationships, emotions, and coping tools in a safe, non-judgmental space.
-

Family Involvement
With younger children, I regularly check in with parents or caregivers and offer guidance to support your child’s growth at home. For teens, I uphold confidentiality to build trust while still keeping parents informed when appropriate. I work to balance safety, privacy, and open communication with care.

Virtual & In-Person Options
Sessions are available in person at my private office in Port Perry or virtually. Each format is adapted to support the child’s comfort and attention span. For in-person sessions, my office offers a calm, private space tailored for therapeutic engagement. For virtual sessions, I offer strategies to help children and teens feel focused and secure from the comfort of home.
No matter the format, I ensure the process remains developmentally appropriate, accessible, and supportive. Parent participation, session privacy, and clear communication are part of the foundation I build with every family.
